The Department of Paediatrics (http://www.ucalgary.ca/paed) in conjunction with the Alberta Children’s Hospital Research Institute (ACHRI; http://research4kids.ucalgary.ca) at the Cumming School of Medicine, University of Calgary invite applications for a Contingent Term appointment at the Assistant Professor level. Alignment of the research interests with the priorities of the section of Developmental Pediatrics, ACHRI, the Owerko Centre, the Cumming School of Medicine (CSM) and the University of Calgary is expected (https://cumming.ucalgary.ca/deans-office/strategic-plan).
The successful candidate will have a primary research focus in neurodevelopmental disorders, ideally with a background in precision medicine. This position will fill clinical needs in the areas of assessment and management of patients with suspected or confirmed Autism Spectrum Disorders, consultation regarding developmental problems in patients with complex medical illness, and those with complex developmental and behavioral profiles in the context of multiple etiologic risk including for instance substance exposure in utero and adverse childhood experiences. The successful candidate will also be expected to contribute meaningfully to medical student, resident and fellow training. A research start-up package and space are available through the Department of Paediatrics and ACHRI and will be commensurate with experience and the research needs.
The Section of Developmental Pediatrics is based at the Alberta Children’s Hospital (ACH) as well as the Child Development Centre (CDC). Service population includes the Calgary Zone, southern Alberta, southwestern Saskatchewan, and southeastern British Columbia (for a total of approximately 2+ million). The 141 bed Alberta Children’s Hospital (ACH) opened in 2006 followed by the adjacent Child Development Centre and Rotary Flames House Hospice. The Department of Paediatrics has over 300 clinical and academic faculty members who are part of the Cumming School of Medicine at the University of Calgary.
