The Section of Gynecologic Oncology at FMC/TBCC is a well-established team that provides comprehensive care for gynecologic cancer patients including radical surgery, chemotherapy, and works in close collaboration with radiation oncology and palliative care. The Section participates in teaching of trainees at all levels and includes a Royal College accredited Gynecologic Oncology Fellowship Program at the University of Calgary. There is currently is a strong research program with emphasis on surgical quality outcomes research. The successful applicant will take part in all clinical aspects of gynecologic oncology practice within the group. Remuneration will be by fee-for-service only. Colposcopy practice is not included in this job description. The successful candidate will be encouraged to participate in research, education and administration within the group.

Alberta Health Services, Calgary Zone serves a population of ~1.2 million people. Calgary is a vibrant city close to Banff and the Rocky Mountains. The Zone includes presently 5 urban hospitals, (Foothills Medial Centre, Rockyview Hospital, Peter Lougheed Centre, South Health Campus and Alberta Children’s Hospital) comprehensive health centres and a variety of community and continuing care facilities.

Foothills Medical Centre (FMC) is the tertiary facility in Calgary and the primary site for this 1.0 FTE clinical position. FMC provides tertiary support to southern Alberta as well as south eastern British Columbia. The Tom Baker Cancer Centre is co-located on this site as well.

Eligibility for licensure in the Province of Alberta is required. Candidates must have their FRCSC in Obstetrics & Gynecology, and subspecialty certification in Gynecologic Oncology from the Royal College of Physicians & Surgeons of Canada. All candidates will be required to have clinical academic appointments with the Cumming School of Medicine, University of Calgary.

All qualified candidates are encouraged to apply; however, Canadians and Permanent Residents will be given priority.

This position is a Fee for Service position. There is an agreement in place for specialist on call stipend for Gynecologic Oncology call service (1:5 call rota).

The Practitioner is responsible for purchasing heatlh and insurance benefits.

The AMA, through the Continuing Medical Education (CME) program, reimburses eligible physicians for costs incurred with regards to the maintenance and enhancement of knowledge, skills and competency.

The annual allotment of $2,656 carries forward for three years but expires on March 31 of the fourth year if not used.
