Clinical Teaching and Service Responsibilities:

· The successful candidate will take on an existing patient panel, will be the primary preceptor for family medicine residents and clinical clerks, and will be a PCN member.

· Provide medical services to the patients of the Department of Family Medicine (DFM) Academic Teaching Clinics

· Provide clinical teaching and assessment to medical students, clinical clerks, residents, and Alberta International Graduate (AIMG) Program Externs

· Provide task and patient coverage for colleagues as necessary; provide continuity in time of need, flexibility to perform additional clinics may be requested

· Participate in after-hours care including on-call coverage (MD 24) and evening clinics

· Participate in the Alberta Triplicate Prescription Program

· Contribute to quality improvement initiatives and clinical program development

· Attend meetings such as clinical operations meeting, academic business meeting, and clinical team meetings when available

· Participate in relevant education activities

· Participate in relevant research and scholarship activities

· Participate in Interprofessional education


· A minimum of five (5) years clinical experience in a family medicine clinic or program

· Eligible for AHS Privileges through a Medical Staff appointment with the Section of Community Primary Care of the Department of Family Medicine

· Eligible for an Academic Appointment within the Department of Family Medicine

· Certification from the College of Family Physicians of Canada (CCFP)

· Clinical teaching experience is required

· Significant experience in medical education program leadership

· Evidence of advocacy in primary care at a regional or provincial level

· Experience in quality improvement is considered an asset

Must read, write and speak English.
