The Department of Surgery, Alberta Health Services – Calgary Zone, invite applications for a major clinical position as an Otolaryngologist - Head and Neck Surgeon, Subspecialty expertise in Rhinology.

Qualifications include an MD, Fellowship with the Royal College of Surgeons of Canada in Otolaryngology, Head and Neck Surgery, with completion of at least a one-year post-residency fellowship in Rhinology being highly desirable. The ideal candidate will have acquired training or experience in clinical or basic science research related to Otolaryngology and/or Rhinology. Applicants must also be eligible for licensure in the Province of Alberta. The position will commence in July 2022.

The successful candidate will become a member of the Section of Otolaryngology and will practice primarily at the Rockyview General Hospital (RGH)), joining four existing otolaryngologists at that site. Operating privileges at RGH are provided. Outpatient clinic work will require an out of hospital private office. Dedication to maintaining a practice including general otolaryngology with interest in Rhinology is mandatory. It is highly desirable that the successful candidate participate in pediatric otolaryngology at the Alberta Childrens Hospital. The successful candidate will have opportunities for additional anterior skull base surgery with Neurosurgery (Foothills Medical Centre).

The recruited surgeon will support the mission of the University of Calgary and an appointment to the Cumming School of Medicine will be expected. Academic rank will be commensurate with experience and academic credentials. The successful candidate will participate in clinical outcomes and other research projects. They will teach and evaluate residents and medical students in various settings including clinical encounters and surgeries, didactic lectures, seminars and surgical simulation.

Must read, write and speak English.

Desired qualifications include Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS), and fellowship in Rhinology.
