The Departments of Oncology and Pediatrics with Alberta Health Services (AHS) in conjunction with the Cumming School of Medicine and the University of Calgary invite applications for a full-time clinician in the Section of Pediatric Oncology/Transplant and Cellular Therapy (TCT), at the Clinical Assistant Professor level or higher. The successful applicant will become a member of the multidisciplinary pediatric oncology team located at the Alberta Children’s Hospital site of the Calgary Zone.

The Section of Pediatric Oncology/TCT works closely with colleagues in the section of Pediatric Hematology/Immunology as well as other pediatric subspecialites. We are the regional pediatric TCT centre for Alberta with catchment including eastern British Columbia and Saskatchewan.

The successful candidate is expected to provide high quality in- and out-patient care to patients with oncologic disorders, including TCT patients working alongside a strong multidisciplinary team and will be expected to advance local, national and international collaborations. Weekend and night calls are shared within a group of five additional physicians. There will be opportunities for collaboration with basic-science and clinical researchers at the Alberta Children’s Hospital as well as the University of Calgary. The program boasts strengths within neuro-oncology and TCT with complementary strengths existing at the University of Calgary.

Qualifications include an MD and eligibility for registration with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta. Certification in Pediatrics and Pediatric Hematology/Oncology are required. A candidate with a focus in Pediatric Oncology is preferred (while on service, coverage in TCT will be required) and a track record of productivity will be given preference for increased provision for protected research time. Specific interest and experience in clinical trials administration and operation will be an asset.

The successful applicant will be expected to obtain an appointment within the Departments of Oncology and Pediatrics at the Cumming School of Medicine at the University of Calgary.

The candidate must be eligible for Licensure with the College of Phsyciains and Surgeons of Alberta. Must read, write and speak English.

Remuneration will depend on clinical experience and comply with the agreement between Cancer Control Alberta, Alberta Health Services and the Alberta Medical Association. Pediatric Oncologists are hired as independent contractors with Alberta Health Services.

The Practitioner is responsible for purchasing health and insurance benefits.
