The physician will involve providing outpatient psychiatric consultation and follow-up for children and adolescents up to age 18 (through the Child & Adolescent Psychiatry Service [CAPS] at RRDTC, as well as psychiatric consultation to Claresholm, Vulcan, and High River, AB) and young adults roughly between 18 and 24-25 years of age (outpatients through the Emerging Adult Treatment Clinic [EATC] at RRDTC and residential clients through the Concurrent Disorders and Active Rehabilitation programs at CCMHA). Psychiatric consultation will include diagnostic clarification as well as providing recommendations for appropriate management (including pharmacologic and psychotherapeutic options), which may be initiated by a consulting physician in the community. Follow up duration will range from 1-2 sessions to active involvement over the entire duration of the client’s admission to EATC or CCMHA. The physician will provide on-call consultation regularly as per the Department of Child & Adolescent Psychiatry’s standards (either through ACH or SHC) and will also be on-call for their clients admitted through CCMHA.

Qualifications of the applicant should include an MD, Candidates must hold a certificate in Psychiatry and have at least 2 years training in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry. The successful applicant will demonstrate a core competency as a leader but more importantly a key collaborator with other discipline’s, communicator, scholar, professional and health advocate. The candidate must be eligible for Licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta.
