Alberta Health Services, Calgary Zone invites applications for the role of Zone Clinical Section Chief, Pediatric Critical Care, Department of Pediatrics.

This 0.30 FTE position governed by the Medical Staff Bylaws and Rules, reports to the Zone Clinical Department Head of Pediatrics. The Department is concurrently seeking applications for a 0.70 FTE position in Critical Care Medicine (see job competition 4785-1). Candidates may wish to consider applying to both positions.

The Section Chief, Pediatric Critical Care is a leadership role contributing guidance and advice for strategic planning, project development and quality care for patients receiving clinical care through the Section of Pediatric Critical Care. This medical-administrative leader will work with the medical leadership team contributing to expert guidance and advice to matters within the Department of Pediatrics.

This leader position is accountable for ensuring effective support at the ACH site for patient safety, quality management, teaching and research, promoting educational programs and developing/promoting departmental research activities for section members. The role will also support recruitment and retention of physicians to the section, liaise with other site medical leaders.

Qualifications include an MD or equivalent, certification by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada in Pediatrics and Critical Care Medicine, or equivalent.

Evidence of practice experience in a Canadian Pediatric Intensive Care Unit will be considered as asset.

The candidate must be eligible for independent Licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta.

Remuneration is in accordance with AHS contractor agreements.
