Alberta Health Services is inviting applications from Emergency Medicine Physicians to join the Department of Emergency Medicine in the Edmonton Zone. There are up to 2 Locum positions (FTE 0.5) available immediately with an end date of June 30, 2022.

Shifts are currently 8:00 - 16:00 and 16:00 to 22:00. When the hospital returns to 24 hour care, shifts will be 8:00 - 17:00 and 17:00 to 8:00.

Please note: Locum positions are temporary assignments; physicians recruited to locum positions who wish to become permanent or extend their locum will be required to apply for positions as they become available on the Doctor Jobs website.

Devon is situated 26 kilometers southwest of Edmonton, in the provincial capital, and is located along the banks of the North Saskatchewan River.

The Devon General Hospital is a 21-bed acute care and continuing care facility in Devon, Alberta. There are 9 acute, 10 continuing, and 2 respite beds. The hospital currently operates from 8:00 - 22:00 and will return to 24-hour emergency services post-pandemic. The hospital provides laboratory and radiology services.

All Edmonton Zone hospitals are affiliated with the University of Alberta, and serve as important training facilities for residents and students. The Faculty of Medicine & Dentistry has been internationally recognized as among the world’s top 50 medical schools and as one of Canada’s premier health-education institutions. Applicants are expected to participate in education of trainees and are encouraged to apply for Clinical Academic Colleague appointments in the Academic Department of Emergency Medicine.

The candidate will have exceptional communication skills and a passion for quality and patient safety. They will be considered a strong clinician by their peers.

The successful applicant will have, or be eligible for, certification in Emergency Medicine with the Royal College of Physicians of Canada or the College of Family Physicians Canada (FRCPC or CCFP-EM) and be eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta.

ACLS, PALS, ATLS and NRP competency are required. Residents must be eligible to write the appropriate exam at the next sitting.

Remuneration is fee-for-service.
