There is 1 permanent 1.0 FTE position available with a start date of 01 July 2020.

Shifts are typically 8 hours and cover days/evenings/nights/weekends. A 1.0 full-time equivalency (FTE) generally represents 10-12 shifts per month.

Stony Plain is a town located 25 minutes west of Edmonton within Parkland County. It is located west of Edmonton adjacent to the City of Spruce Grove. Stony Plain is known for its many painted murals representing various periods, events and people throughout the town's history.


The Westview Health Centre, operated by AHS, provides a wide range of healthcare needs. This 68-bed facility, including a 24-hour emergency department with 17 beds, the community health clinic, diagnostic imaging, x-ray, a Family Medicine inpatient unit, Cast Clinic, Outpatient IV therapy Clinic, Mental Health Clinic and laboratory services. A number of community programs, including child health clinics, immunization services for all ages - including travel immunization, operate out of this facility.

As the successful candidate, you will:

· Possess certification or be eligible for certification in Emergency Medicine with the Royal College of Physicians of Canada or the College of Family Physicians Canada

· Be eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta. Residents who are applying must be eligible to write the appropriate exam at the next sitting.

· Competency or certification in Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)

· Competency or certification in Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS)

· Competency or certification in Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)

· Previous experience in an Emergency department/urgent care setting would be considered an asset


Alberta Medical Association (AMA) Incentives: Medical Liability Reimbursement - reimburses eligible physicians for their medical liability protection costs less a $1,000 deductible.

Continuing Medical Education - reimburses physicians for eligible continuing medical education costs. Eligible physicians receive a $2,627 annual allotment.

Parental Leave Program via Alberta Medical Association - provides $1,051 per week for up to 17 weeks to eligible physician parents of a newborn or newly adopted child.
