Covenant Health, in partnership with Alberta Health Services and the University of Alberta, Faculty of Medicine & Dentistry, Department of Emergency Medicine, invites applications for Emergency Medicine Specialists at the Grey Nuns Community Hospital in Edmonton, Alberta. This is an outstanding practice opportunity to work on a committed and creative team serving local and outlying communities in Alberta’s Edmonton Zone.

Covenant is Canada’s largest Catholic provider of health care, with 26 Catholic facilities in 15 communities across Alberta. As a major provider in Alberta’s integrated health system, the Covenant family (Covenant Health, Covenant Care, and Covenant Living) works with Alberta Health Services and community partners to positively influence the health of Albertans through a broad range of programs and services in our hospitals, health centres and continuing care centres.

There are up 3.5 FTE available with a start date of July 2, 2021 (21-GNCH-EM-01, 21-GNCH-EM-12, 21-GNCH-EM-13, 21-GNCH-EM-14)

The successful candidates will have exceptional communication skills and a passion for quality and patient safety. They will be considered strong clinicians by their peers. The successful applicants will have, or be eligible for, certification in Emergency Medicine with the Royal College of Physicians of Canada or the College of Family Physicians Canada (FRCPC or CCFP-EM) and be eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta. ACLS, PALS, and ATLS competency are required. Residents must be eligible to write the appropriate exam at the next sitting.

In collaboration with their colleagues, the successful candidates will deliver care and consultation services to emergency patients and participate in the program’s rotating shift schedule.

The successful candidates will be required to participate in the teaching program and will be encouraged to apply for a Clinical Faculty appointment in the Department of Emergency Medicine, University of Alberta, which will be considered under a separate process through the Faculty of Medicine & Dentistry.

Note: For graduating Residents, one reference letter must be from your program director or assistant program director. For practicing physicians, one reference letter must be from a recent Facility Chief.

Remuneration will be based on the Fee-for-Service (FFS) schedule.
