The University of Alberta, Faculty of Medicine & Dentistry, Department of Medicine in partnership with Alberta Health Services, is inviting applications for General Internal Medicine Physicians with an interest and training in Obstetric Medicine, at the Royal Alexandra Hospital. Located in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, the Faculty is internationally recognized as among the world’s top 50 medical schools and as one of Canada’s premier health-education institutions.

Candidates must hold an MD or equivalent with completed training in General Internal Medicine (GIM) and certification with the Royal College of Physicians & Surgeons of Canada and training in Obstetric Medicine (at least 12 months) and must be eligible for licensure within the Province of Alberta. The successful applicants are expected to participate in clinical service commitments in Obstetric Medicine and General Internal Medicine which may include but are not limited to: inpatient Obstetric Medicine consult service, outpatient Obstetric Medicine clinics, inpatient internal medicine clinical teaching and nonteaching services, emergency consultations, inpatient and critical care consultation, urgent ambulatory access, chronic disease prevention and management clinics. Successful candidates are expected to provide an active ambulatory service.

The GIM Division and Obstetric Medicine is invested in the education of medical students, residents and other learners. Therefore, the successful applicants will be expected to apply for a Clinical Academic Colleague Appointment in the Department of Medicine University of Alberta, which will be considered under a separate process through the Faculty of Medicine & Dentistry. Appointment to the Alberta Health Services Medical Staff is also required.

Successful candidates will also be expected to actively participate in hospital clinical, education and/or administrative committees to provide a leadership role. Research activities and involvement are encouraged but not mandatory.

Remuneration for this position will be based on Fee for Service.
