Alberta Health Services in partnership with The University of Alberta, Faculty of Medicine & Dentistry, Department of Medicine, Division of General Internal Medicine, invites applications for 3 Locum General Internist to be based at the University of Alberta Hospital Located in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. The Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry has been internationally recognized as among the world’s top 50 medical schools and as one of Canada’s premier health-education institutions.

The University is currently home to 39,000 students and 15,000 faculty and staff. The Division of General Internal Medicine currently has 20 full time Faculty members working in close collaboration with community-based internists. It provides clinical services to all acute care facilities in the Edmonton Zone, with consultative services to Northern Alberta and the Northwest Territories.

Key accountabilities of the Locum General Internal Medicine Specialist will consist of the care of acutely ill adult patients admitted to hospital. This includes attending on the inpatient medicine wards, consulting on non-medical wards and the triage of patients referred by the emergency teams. There might also be the opportunity to participate on the POCUS team and the virtual hospital.

The successful candidate will have an MD degree, or equivalent. He or she will be eligible to be certified in General Internal Medicine with the Royal College of Physicians & Surgeons of Canada. As well, he or she will be eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta (CPSA).

Remuneration will be based on the Fee-for-Service (FFS) schedule.
