Alberta Health Services and Covenant Health in partnership with The University of Alberta, Faculty of Medicine & Dentistry, Department of Medicine, Division of General Internal Medicine, invites applications for a Locum General Internist to be based at theRoyal Alexandra Hospital located in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, the Faculty has been internationally recognized as among the world’s top 50 medical schools and as one of Canada’s premier health-education institutions.

The Division of General Internal Medicine currently has 20 full time Faculty members working in close collaboration with community-based internists. It provides clinical services to all acute care facilities in the Edmonton Zone, with consultative services to Northern Alberta and the Northwest Territories.

Key accountabilities of the General Internist will include, but will not be limited to GIM inpatient service, functioning as clinical admitting MRP, covering ED Consults, and inpatient ward consults. They will participate in rotating call schedule when on service. There may be teaching responsibilities if covering a clinical teaching unit.

The successful candidate will have an MD degree, or equivalent. He or she will be eligible to be certified in General Internal Medicine with the Royal College of Physicians & Surgeons of Canada. As well, he or she will be eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta (CPSA).

Remuneration will be based on the Fee-for-Service (FFS) schedule.
