Alberta Health Services (AHS), Edmonton Zone, invites applications for the role of Zone Section Chief, Cardiac Anesthesia.

This 0.10 FTE position, governed by the Medical Staff Bylaws and Rules, reports directly to the Edmonton Zone Clinical Department Head for Anesthesiology.

The Section Chief Cardiac Anesthesia is a leadership role contributing guidance and advice for strategic planning, project development and quality care for patients in the subspecialty Adult Cardiac Anesthesia care in Edmonton Zone. This medical-administrative leader will work with the medical leadership team within the Department of Anesthesia.

This leader position is accountable for providing leadership and oversight to the Zone Department of Anesthesia and Pain Medicine. This position is accountable for, but not limited to the review, development, and improvement of services and programs at urban and rural/community sites within the Edmonton Zone.

The successful candidate will possess superior interpersonal skills, have demonstrated supervisory experience and be an excellent clinician with the respect of his/her peers. The successful candidate will be committed to fulfilling clinical and non-clinical duties as a representative of the Zone Clinical Department of Anesthesiology.

Candidates must be Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (RCPSC) certified, be eligible to work in Canada, and hold or be eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta and appointment to the AHS Medical Staff. Candidates should be able to demonstrate experience of administration in the perioperative clinical practice setting.

Remuneration is in accordance with AHS contractor agreements.
