Fort McMurray is currently looking to recruit a Visiting Specialist to provide service in Otolaryngology (ENT). Providing services for 3 - 4 days per visit, 10 times a year. (Clinic and OR)

The community of Fort McMurray is located 444 km north of Edmonton with a population including catchment of 83,426.

Acute Beds: 95

Discharges: 7,053

OR Procedures: 4,986

Endoscopies: 6,205

ED Visits: 64,881

Applicants must hold FRCSC designation in Otolaryngology – Head and Neck or equivalent and must be eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta.

Fee for Service

Through the Outreach and Travelling Physician Support Policy Visiting Specialists are eligible for monetary supports:

  • The outreach financial incentive, at a minimum, requires one way travel greater than 50kms, and pays at $1/kms up to a maximum 500kms one way. Zonal Medical Affairs will calculate payments using a round-trip amount on a monthly basis.
  • For approved outreach service requests AHS will remunerate mileage/car rentals/taxis, meals, flights and accommodation in keeping with the AHS Travel Policy.
