Alberta Health Services, South Zone is currently seeking a full-time Plastic surgeon for the Chinook Regional Hospital, commencing fall 2022.

As the successful candidate you will:

  • Establish and maintain a full-time Plastic Surgery practice in the community of Lethbridge, AB [a full-time practice is defined as providing commensurate shifts in keeping with other equivalent practice FTEs];
  • Provide inpatient consultations at the Chinook Regional Hospital to the Zone Clinical Department of Surgery, section of Plastic Surgery;
  • Provide community consultations within Lethbridge;
  • Provide on-call support as per AHS's on-call schedules and expectations applicable to the SZ Clinical Department of Plastic Surgery, subsection of Surgery, or as may otheriwse be established by an appropriate medical leader;
  • have equal access to OR days, as well as equal access to additional blocks based on utilization and need;
  • Obtain and maintain an AHS Medical Staff Appointment and appropriate privileges to provide the services;
  • Abide by the AHS Medical Staff Bylaws, the AHS Medical Staff Rules and AHS policies;
  • Work collaboratively with peers and care team colleagues as a member of the Zone Clinical Department of Surgery at the Chinook Regional Hospital;
  • Participate in quality improvement programs and initiatives undertaken within the Zone Clinical Department of Surgery, including (without limitation) achievement of certain performance indicators as determined by AHS, exervising its discretion reasonably.

The Chinook Regional Hospital (CRH) is the largest community hospital located in Southern Alberta providing services to Lethbridge and surrounding rural areas with a catchment population of ~150,000. CRH has 250 acute care beds, 45 geriatric beds, 10 ICU beds and 15 NICU bassinets. CRH is an accredited Level 3 Trauma Centre providing coverage in Pediatrics, Geriatrics, General Surgery, Medicine Obstetrics & Gynecology, ENT, Urology, Orthopedics, Ophthalmology, Plastic Surgery and Cancer services.

Lethbridge is a vibrant city of 100,000 located in beautiful southern Alberta - close to the mountains (about 70 miles from Waterton National Park and the Rockies) and an easy drive to Calgary.

Travel Alberta

  • Be certified or eligible for certification by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, Fellowship in Plastic Surgery;
    • Additional expertise or Fellowship in Wrist Surgery or Breast Reconstruction desired;
  • Must have or be eligible for a full independent medical license from the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta.
